What is the Rangers Academy?

The Rangers Academy is for boys and girls aged 4 thru 14, who love soccer, wish to learn more about the game and improve their skills. Rangers Academy provides a safe, fun environment for these players to train and play under the guidance of the finest coaches and teachers of the game in North East Indiana area. We offer four sessions through out the year, meaning that your child has the chance to train and play games 10 months out of the year!

The Rangers Academy uses ‘player pools’, rather than teams, and has been a success in developing creative, skillful players who have an enhanced love of the game. The idea behind the "Academy" format is to focus on the development of EVERY player, instead of teams, at these young ages as recommended by:  The United States Soccer Federation (USSF) in their ‘Player Development Guidelines’ and our club's partner Glasgow Rangers FC of Scotland. This focus is also strongly recommended in the coaching license courses of the USSF and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Why does Rangers FC believe in the Youth Academy Model?

The main reasoning behind focusing on the development of individual players is that, in the past there has been so much focus on creating winning teams, that the players’ technical skills have never developed enough to be able to carry out the tactics needed to play at the next level. After all, there are NO tactics without technique. It is the individual ball skills, creativity and love of the game that will create exciting soccer players who can play on successful teams and this is why the Rangers Academy works better in helping players reach the next level of play.

What is the Format of the Youth Academy?

All of our 4 year old thru 14 year old players have the option to practice 4 times per week with our flexible training schedule.  Academies currently train on these nights and in these communities:

Players can attend as many training sessions as they like, but most attend 2 per week on average.  Each age group will practice in age and ability level specific groups where we encourage them to play without any fear of making mistakes and to express themselves positively on the soccer field. Our coaches challenge all of the players to get better and teach sportsmanship and good values to the players in the process.

Our coaching philosophy is to guide players to the answers of the many challenges that soccer presents so that they have a better understanding of the sport, instead of throwing all the answers at them and expecting them to remember them.  The kids will be given regular evaluations to see if they are progressing through the curriculum, and can earn special patches to sew on their jerseys to mark their progress and special achievements.  The training is fun, challenging, and rewarding.

When Can my Child Join the Rangers Academy?
Players can join the Rangers Academy at any time through out our four season training year.  There are no tryouts, and no child is turned away as long as they meet the age group requirements, and they have a love for soccer!  We offer these four seasons for our families to participate in:

Winter 1 - Mid November thru January - Indoor at the Classic City Center - $75
